Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017-PLEASE JOIN US FOR THIS NEW SOCIAL EVENT from LAG!! SPECIAL EVENT-END OF SUMMER SOCIAL 5:30 to 8:00 pm:
NOT AT HOMER LIBRARY: We are gathering at LEMONT CENTER FOR THE ARTS to have an END OF THE SUMMER SOCIAL. Come on out and enjoy seeing fellow artists and supporters of the arts. Light refreshments will be served. This is a fun social event to kick off our upcoming LAG programs starting in September. Lemont Center for the Arts is located at 1243 State St., Ste. 101, Lemont, IL (just south of the Aldi on the East side of State St.).
Meetings/Programs take place on the third Wed. of the month, 7-9 pm (except December) Sept-May at the Homer Township Public Library, 14320 W 151st St, Homer Glen, IL 60491:

CALLIGRAPHY- Deborah Bryant
Deborah Bryant has been a professional calligrapher for over 30 years; her company name is Wordcrafters. She has a wide range of experience teaching and has attended many international and local classes herself. Draw along with Deborah. She will have felt tip calligraphic markers you can purchase for $4. She will have lettering guides and lined paper. Deborah's website is: www.wordcraftersusa.com

CARTOONING- Dan Dougherty
Dan Dougherty is the creator of Beardo Comics. Dan will talk about creating a comic strip. He is an award winning author and illustrator. Dan has created his own brand of original award-winning comics that showcase a range of style and genre. He has been in the comic industry since 2003, and has loved the medium his whole life. When he is not at his drawing board, he can be found touring the country on the comic convention circuit, teaching how to make comics at the International School of Comics in Chicago, or writing and performing music with his band called On The Off Chance. WATERCOLOR CITYSCAPES- Gordon France
Gordon will demonstrate his style and technique as a painter. He has won many awards and his paintings hang in private and corporate collections in Italy, the UK, Canada and throughout the U.S. He has been a featured artist on WGN-TV, WMAQ-TV, in the Chicago Tribune and Area suburban newspapers. Gordon was awarded 3rd place in American Artist magazines 70th Anniversary watercolor competition for his painting "Wrigley Rainout" and was a featured painter on the cover and article in Watercolor magazine. Two of his paintings chronicling American city life were on a two year exhibit at the U.S. embassy in Sarajevo as part of the State Department's Art in Embassies Program. WATERCOLOR INTERACTIVE- Cyn O'Brien
Everyone will feel like an artist leaving with a small finished work of their own as Cyn O'Brien returns to lead this LAG program by popular demand. Cyn has been a freelance artist specializing in Watercolor Portraits for the past 15 years. She is a long time member of Lemont Artists Guild and has been active in the Homer Glen community, volunteering and working at the schools teaching art workshops. Cyn has opened up her studio for private painting parties and has a special gift for demonstrating and teaching watercolor techniques in a simple step by step format.

COMPUTER GRAPHICS- Judith Mayer
Judith is going to talk about artists and creating their marketing material on the computer, good and bad design. She has been a designer/illustrator for 25 years, 19 of them in her own practice. She has expanded her business with a line of letterpress and screenprinted paper goods. Her client list has included national and regional non-profit organizations and corporations such Northwest Indian Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, NIPSCO, Towle Theater, Abbott Laboratories, American Dental Assoc., Underwriter Laboratories and Wild Dolphin Foundation, Hawaii. OIL PAINTING STILL-LIFE- George Ceffalio
George Ceffalio is an award winning artist whose works have been displayed in several local, regional, and national exhibitions. He has received numerous awards including several Best of Show. George is associated with Palette and Chisel Academy of Art, Oil Painters of America, and Portrait Society of America among others. George is best known for his rich vibrant colors and creative depiction of subject. Design is foremost and each painting is unique. His paintings are classical realism focusing on lights and darks. CERAMICS- Lee Ristow
Lee Ristow works out of ClaySpace Ceramic Art Center in Lisle and a past member of Lemont Artists Guild. Lee has experimented all her life in many art mediums but found a passion for the beauty of working with clay. Besides showing her work, she will demonstrate different techniques such as hand building, textures, stamping and pinch pot. She will talk about temperatures required for firing clay and will also extend an invitation for attending the special RAKU firing at Clayspace. She will bring clay for everyone to try.
